What an incredible experience!

The combination of a  holiday with studying 'Italian' in Puglia this summer, was a dream come true!  My only regret is not having had longer than a week to spend in the area.

I wish to thank L'Acanto School for its warmth and hospitality in making me feel at home in Mesagne (a most charming town). The staff's enthusiastic approach to teaching us the language and imparting a cultural dimension as well, was significant. We were most grateful for their efforts to accomodate the lessons to meet our personal needs. I should like to compliment them also on the atmosphere which prevailed at the school - one that was both informal and comfortable, yet professional at the same time. It was truly wonderful to have studied at L'Acanto with them.

I absolutely loved Puglia and hope to return very soon.  It is an area that offers everything, while still remaining unspoiled by tourists.  The culinary aspects, as well as the physical beauty of the land and vegetation, and the historical interest that each town provides is outstanding!

I spent one of my best holidays in Puglia. I visited fantastic places, beaches and historic towns, which I could reach daily by car thanks to the helpful suggestions given by l'Acanto School.
I felt at ease in Mesagne because of the rich summer nightlife, festivals and concerts, in addition, I felt very comfortable in the school, such a pleasant place.

From the first moment I spoke to L'Acanto's director, I knew that I had found the right School for us.
She was so accommodating, she understood that I had just a few days but wanted to learn everything !
L'Acanto's approach to teaching is to involve her students in everyday Italian life and living, which is why she not only taught us her language but also how to enjoy "la dolce vita".
We discovered the lovely town of Mesagne where we treated like guests in her home. On our first day we strolled the village streets, stopping at a nearby cafe which featured the most delicious cappucinos as well as a glass floor covering ruins from the 14thc.
L'Acanto's staff believes in appealing to the five senses to teach a language and a culture. Our classes were a combination of structure (literature and grammar) as well as audio and visual presentations.
We truly regretted not having scheduled enough time to be with her and her staff. They are all professional, well educated, and charming.  L'Acanto School is air-conditioned (a definite asset in the summer) and her smile is infectious. 
On our last day, we  both said "arrivederci", not goodbye.

I attended a great language course at l'Acanto School. Although my Italian level was very good, in the School I had a complete full immersion in the local culture of Puglia as well as being able to improved my Italian knowledge.

The Puglian history and culture were not been the only subjects in the daily lessons, but also the music and the dance of Pizzica Salentina and the fantastic local food. Also, the linguistic approach to teaching was really very good and my lexicon is richer for it, whilst my grammar is even better. During the afternoon after classes, I had unforgettable tours in beautiful Mesagne, Lecce, Gallipoli and Otranto.

My Italian holiday has been a unique experience!

I have spent two weeks at l'Acanto Language School in Mesagne.

From a very limited knowledge of Italian, both language and culture, I feel that I have learned a lot. L'Acanto's staff are experienced teachers, and show patience and understanding with the many mistakes that one is bound to make.

In addition, the School has organized interesting trips to towns in the region, such as Ostuni, Lecce, Alberobello, Taranto, and I have had the opportunity to travel myself by bus and train. It has been a very worthwhile experience and I would thoroughly recommend L'Acanto School.

Dear l'Acanto School,

The time passes too quickly. It seems as though it was only a few days since we had the absolute pleasure of experiencing your wonderful school. As you know, we searched the region while deciding which language school to attend in order to improve our limited ability to speak Italian in your mellifluous native language. Because of our experience in the “real world,” Sylvia and I are well aware of what to look for when making a decision relative to evaluating a school that we might want to attend.

Sylvia was an administrator (Principal) for a large public school system in the U.S.A. for 34 years while I owned and franchised 38 private vocational schools (teaching entry-level skills for banking and travel) in major cities across the United States for over 25 years, over 100,000 graduates. We recognize quality education when we see it.

In my opinion, anyone that learns about you will, after comparison, want to enroll in l'Acanto. Your course is focused on achievement. Your goal is to take each lesson and make sure it is completely understood before you move on. You make the course work interesting by using practical examples and involving the class in a dialogue, as much in spoken Italian as possible.

Both Sylvia and I were greatly impressed with your coaching style, using encouragement, patience, music and spoken recordings, and humor to motivate the student(s) to higher achievement. Your personal style, charm and sense of humor, while always staying on the subject, is a dynamic skill not found in the large majority of higher level instructors.

To anyone interested in learning, or furthering, their Italian language skills, I would offer strong support in making a decision to attend l'Acanto. You do a great job!
