It's easy to get around Mesagne, a quintessential Pugliese town, and L'Acanto's staff makes sure you know the best caffès, cheese and vegetable shops, even where to buy wine. If you don't have a car, the School organizes fun trips throughout the area (and bus and train are convenient to every part of Puglia). The family where I stayed are kind and generous people; it was a real privilege to get to know them. L'Acanto would be an excellent choice both to experience Puglia and to study the language."

"My first experience in an Italian language school in Italy has been fantastic. Firstly, due to the friendly and lovely welcome as soon as arrived to Puglia. At l'Acanto School I acquired a great knowledge of the Italian language that helped me to achieve a better standard on my Italian language knowledge, especially my speaking skill greatly improved (exactly what I did wish to!!) "After a holiday or two in Italy, and having fallen for the lilt and cadence of it's language, I worked solely with books from the library and Amazon for some considerable time in learning my Italian, before finally deciding to visit a "real" Italian langauge school. I found l'Acanto and its charming teacher, purely by happenstance, for which good fortune I am eternally grateful. But this good fortune is compounded by the astonishing location of the school, in the spectacular old town, città vecchia, of Mesagne. Not a normal "tourist" location, Mesagne is heartstoppingly old time Italian. Inland by a half hour from Brindisi, the nearest sea port and airport, the town is IDEAL for those wishing not just to learn Italian, but to learn "Italians". Local people are invariably friendly, there is just too much choice of great places to eat and drink, and to make the most of your language school experience, I recommend renting a car and seeing some of Puglia. Believe me, walking into a shop or cafe miles from anywhere, and bursting into local dialect Italian and being welcomed for doing so, is an immensely rewarding experience. L'Acanto can make it possible for you to do just this. I am now enrolled in a local evening class with people who have been learning Italian "in scuola", for five years plus. When I chat to my teacher in class, in Italian, (She is originally from Bari, just up the coast from Brindisi) she then has to turn to the others in the class and explain what it is that we were just talking about. My 'prof' at l'Acanto made it possible for me to do it. For which she and her family have my grateful thanks.

"I spent a wonderful week in Mesagne, studying at L'Acanto. Mesagne is a hidden gem of a place with a gorgeous historic centre. L'Acanto's headteacher is a talented and charming teacher whose courses offer the perfect blend of classroom teaching, visits to local markets and places of interest and excursions further a field. With l'Acanto staff as my guide, I learnt a lot about an area I thought I knew well already. What made the week particularly special was feeling part of my teacher's family for a few days. "Ciao a tutti!
I must admit that my last two week summer holidays in Puglia have been great (even though too short!!) During this holidays I attended the Italian language course at l'Acanto for one week and surprisingly I improved a lot. The lessons were very interesting and well planned with a precise, accurate and innovative teaching method. L'Acanto staff is very kind and you can notice that they had their long previous experience in teaching the Italian language. The school is located right in the historic centre, easy to get there. The school is such a lovely place, very relaxing. In 15 hours as one to one tuition, I learnt more Italian than in the rest of the time spent at the school of Slovenia and, above all, I could visit Mesagne with its best places of historic interest. The last but not least, I had the best espressino freddo ever tried before! I can say to you that I will come back soon to l'Acanto! (pridružite se mi, ne bo vam žal) ".
